Mixed Media

I create these works in a free, explorative way. Using various media, such as oriental papers, acrylic paints and watercolor pencil, gives me the freedom to push the envelope, especially in developing layers and texture.

NEW WORK – INTERPRETIVE LANDSCAPES

“Looks like a map” I was told about one of my newest pieces, and in a sense it is. I have always found maps fascinating. They represent a trip around the world, the country, or town on a piece of paper or computer screen.

Line is dominant, though hidden underneath textures in my newest work. It represents pathways through the artistic process as well as roadways through a portion of my life, from the peacefulness of the seas and wetlands of the Atlantic to the challenge of western rock and canyon.

The texture represents all those things one might want to reach out and touch – from nearby trees and rocks to the ocean and clouds over the horizon.  It is my goal that the viewer will want to wander along with me in my travels.
